CRAVEN district council has earmarked a maximum of £50,000 to repair a gaping hole in a retaining wall at Skipton's Coach Street car park.
A section of the wall between the car park and Eller beck, opposite the entrance to Fisher surgery, has slipped causing a pile of rubble. It is not interfering with the flow of the water.
An area of the car park near to the collapse has been fenced off to prevent motorists encroaching.
A council spokesman said the collapse - the cause is unknown - happened during the evening of October 24.
"Six car parking spaces were upon notification immediately coned off the following morning to prohibit vehicles from using this area of the car park.
"The council agreed at a meeting on Monday, December 4, to put aside a maximum of £50,000 to support the design and reconstruction of the wall.
