SKIPTON Tesco has appointed a new community champion to take on the role of helping people with good causes in the town.

Dean Majors, who has lived and worked in Skipton for five years, will start his new role on Monday, replacing the store's former community champion, Alex Kay, who has moved out of the area.

"I am so proud to be asked to take on the role of Tesco community champion. In the in five years I’ve lived and worked in Skipton I have encountered many amazing people doing wonderful things with fantastic results," he said.

"At Tesco, we are all about supporting worthwhile community projects and a fair chunk of my day will be spent out and about meeting and helping these great ambassadors for their chosen charities or groups. Since I announced my new role, so many folk have contacted me for support, and when I start on Monday, I will be in touch with them all. It is an honour to take over from Alex who has done a fantastic job in her two years and has made me feel so welcome and I would like to wish her well for the future - it’s all about making moments matter, and I can’t wait to get started."
