WORK on a £107,000 upgrade of Skipton's gas network is now due to start tomorrow (Thursday).

The work, which will be centred on and around the High Street and is scheduled to last six weeks until Monday, February 19, was due to start today, but has been delayed until tomorrow.

A spokesperson for Northern Gas Networks said all those affected by the work had been notified.

Jerry Croft is due to be closed to traffic until Monday, January 22, after which Otley Street will be closed for the remainder of the project.

The major project is part of Northern Gas Network's ongoing development of infrastructure and will involve replacing 292m of existing metal gas mains with more durable plastic pipes, to ensure the continued safe and reliable supply of gas to customers in the area for years to come.

A customer drop in cabin in the High Street car park will be available on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10am and 12pm for the full duration of the works for anyone with concerns or questions.
