AROUND a dozen regular activities are being offered to young people across the Silsden, Steeton, Eastburn and Addingham areas.

Sessions by Bradford Council youth workers across the Craven ward were highlighted to councillors at a recent meeting of the council’s Keighley Area Committee.

The politicians heard that there were 11 open access sessions available to young people, as well as a detached team working across the ward on Friday evenings.

The Youth Service’s special activities during school holidays had led to a reduction in complaints about young people’s behaviour.

The Youth Service teamed up with Silsden Methodist Church to organise a drop-in session on the first Friday of every month, which may increase to twice-monthly.

Special sessions last year included training youngsters in the Wellness Recovery Action Plan training, and encouraging them to put forward their views to influence local decision-making.

South Craven School is promoting youth activities in the community, while Ilkley Grammar School is allowing youth workers to promote sessions available across Craven ward.
