A SKIPTON concert by the renowned Greater Manchester Police Male Voice Choir will benefit a local children’s cancer charity.

An Evening of Song will take place at 8pm on Saturday, January 27, at the Rendezvous Hotel on Keighley Road.

A raffle held during the evening will raise money for Petal Childhood Cancer Research.

The charity, which supports Cancer Research UK with its research into childhood cancer, was started in 2000 by Karen Weaving, who co-owns the Rendezvous Hotel with her husband Malcolm.

Founded in 1974, the Greater Manchester Police Male Voice Choir is a group of mainly retired police officers and civilians who perform throughout the UK and overseas.

Karen said: “I’m delighted the Greater Manchester Police Male Voice Choir has agreed to come to Skipton to perform for us. The choir’s reputation for presenting a programme of classic songs mixed with comedy and ad-lib humour should provide a welcome change from the bleak January weather.

“I’m also pleased that we’re going to be able to raise much-needed funds for Petal Childhood Cancer Research. Over the last year, thanks to the generosity of the people of Skipton and the wider area, we’ve raised more than £1.3 million.”

Tickets for the performance cost £8 in advance, or £10 on the door.

Dinner and accommodation packages are also available starting at £25 to include a three-course dinner and ticket, and £58 for dinner, bed, breakfast and ticket.
