POLICE searching for missing Carol Latham, 63, from Skipton are continuing extensive searches of the area today.

Ms Latham left her home in Carleton Road, Skipton, between 9.15am and 11.15am on Monday and has not been seen since.

She is described as 5ft 4in tall, of medium build with red/brown short hair. It is not known what she was wearing when she left the house.

Officers are extremely concerned for her safety and are appealing to anyone who has seen Ms Latham or knows where she is now to contact them.

In addition to specialist police teams and ground searches, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, the National Police Air Service, the Yorkshire and Humberside Regional Underwater Search Team and volunteer search and rescue teams are all involved in the search for her.

Inspector Chris Galley of Skipton Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are very worried about Carol and need to find her as a matter of urgency. It’s been 48 hours since she was last seen and our concerns grown with every hour she remains missing. She has no access to money, transport or a phone that we are aware of. The weather last night was freezing and we can only hope that she has found shelter.

“It’s very out of character for her to go missing and information from the public is vital to our search. Anyone who has seen her, is urged to contact us - no matter how insignificant you think the information is. Or better still, if Carol hears or sees this appeal, please get in touch with the police, your family or friends and let us know that you are safe.”

Anyone who has seen Ms Latham or knows where she is now, is urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101 and pass information to the Force Control Room.
