FUNDS have been allocated to deal with a drainage issue on a footpath at the bottom of Barnoldswick town green.
Members of the West Craven Area Committee allocated £500 from it Capital Programme budget to tackle the issue, which a councillor says is causing a problem in cold wintry weather.
Barnoldswick councillor David Whipp, who represents the town's Craven ward, said: "Water at the bottom of the town green is flowing across the pavement and road, which is a problem when it's frozen because it's a well-used footpath which helps families get their children to school."
The drainage work would be carried out at the bottom of the town green near the mini-roundabout at the junction of Skipton Road, Gisburn Road and Fernlea Avenue.
In addition to the £500 grant for the drainage work, the committee also allocated £1,300 to carry out some repair work near the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.
Cllr Whipp said: "We need to improve the steps up to the bridge on Skipton Road."
He added that repairs may also need to be carried out to bitmac walking surfaces near the canal.
Allocating the two grants leaves £339 in the 2017/18 Capital Programme budget for Barnoldswick.
