INCREASING numbers of us are heading out to walk, run - or even ride - around one of the area's reservoirs.

They include Embsay Reservoir, Grimwith, near Grassington; and off the A59, between Skipton and Harrogate, Thruscross, Swinsty and Fewston.

And now, Yorkshire Water is asking people to vote for their favourite.

There are about 130 reservoirs in Yorkshire, and the winner will receive a steel photo frame installed, designed by a local artist, to provide visitors with the perfect photo opportunity.

The company's Tom Underwood said: "Lots of people have their favourite local reservoir that they visit and we want to know find out, definitively, which can boast as being the most popular in the county. The winning reservoir will have a fantastic life sized picture frame installed at the water edge that will frame the beautiful landscape and make for a memorable photo. We’d encourage people to support their local reservoir and get voting now."

Voting has been divided into West, North and South Yorkshire, and will run until next month.

Last week was the turn of West Yorkshire, and this week is North Yorkshire's turn - the winner in each part of Yorkshire will go through to the grand final, again by public vote between February 22 and March 3.

Votes can be made by visiting Yorkshire Water’s Facebook page, which features spectacular drone footage of some of the area’s finest reservoir retreats - including Fewston, Grimwith, near Grassington, and Swinsty.

Voting for North Yorkshire's best ends on Friday at 5pm.
