A CHARITY founded in memory of popular postie Allan Ripley, who died in 2013, is holding an open mic night at the Two Sisters Bar & Kitchen in High Street, Skipton.

Allan, a well known character around Skipton with his one pedalled push bike which he had adapted to accommodate his "straight" leg caused by TB as a small child, was a keen supporter of The Big Issue North.

His daughter Joanna, who set up the foundation last year, said it had already raised £1,668 towards the newspaper.

"This second open mic night is free for anyone - they can get up and sing, read a poem, play an instrument. We have a raffle and a 'Jar on the Bar' to buy my dad half a cider. That's genuinely all he used to drink," said Joanna.

It takes place on Thursday, March 8 at 7pm. To support the foundation use Natwest bank account open - 55-50-10 - 57164053
