A SUBSTANTIAL 1960s home in Farnhill is to be demolished and replaced with four family homes - instead of the originally approved row of three terrace properties.

The modern designed Deep Spring, off Grange Road, with sweeping drive and a number of mature trees in its garden is now in a poor condition since being left empty for some time, heard Craven District Council’s planning committee.

The new planning consent will replace an earlier approval in 2016 to build a terrace of three homes and one detached property on the site, members were told. Two of the new homes will be five bedroom, and two will be four. They will each have two parking spaces, with an additional total of three for visitors, and access will be by the existing driveway, off Grange Road.

Councillors heard as a result of the earlier approval, the principle of development had already been established and the changed application by Croft Building would make little difference to the visual impact.

Ward councillor Andrew Brown commented large homes were not the type of housing in demand in the area, he also called for electric car charging points to be fitted at the new properties. He also raised concern about possible ribbon development to Silsden.
