THE historic Settle Folly will be having a date with Craven author Julia Stagg on Saturday when it hosts an event to mark publication of her latest novel, Date with Mystery, the third in the Dales Detective series.

The Austwick-based author, who writes under the pseudonym Julia Chapman, will be holding a book signing in the Folly Coffee House with a proportion of the proceeds going to the Folly.

Steve Amphlett, Chairman of Trustees of the North Craven Building Preservation Trust said: “We are delighted that Julia has chosen The Folly Coffee House in Settle for a signing of her latest book as we are located in the heart of the town upon which her fictional 'Bruncliffe' is based. A visit to the book signing will also provide an opportunity to experience the new coffee house and Artisans Gallery which complement the long-established Folly Museum and are just the first stages of an ambitious project to transform The Folly and put it centre stage in the local community.”

Julia said: “I was overjoyed when Steve approached me with the idea of working together because it’s always a pleasure to hold events in the place where books are set. And what better backdrop for a novel based around a mystery from the past than the gorgeous Folly."

The book signing will take place from 10am to 2pm on Saturday (March 31).
