POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault that took place in a Skipton takeaway in the early hours of the morning on Monday, April 2.

It is alleged that the assault happened at Lemons takeaway, Keighley Road at around 2.20am.

The victim of the assault, a man in his early 20s, suffered a deep cut to his lip and was temporarily unconscious.

He was treated at Airedale Hospital later that day and given stitches to the wound in his lip.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said officers would like to trace a a man who was with a woman at the time of the incident, as he may have information which would assist the investigation.

"It is believed there were a number of people in Lemons takeaway at the time of the assault and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything, or anyone who could identify the man police want to speak to, to come forward and contact them."
