A PRACTICE nurse at Skipton's Dyneley House Surgery has been named as a rising star in her profession.

Paula Wray was one of six practice nurses and practitioners across Bradford and Craven to be recognised at the General Practice Nursing Awards.

The awards, held by NHS England, recognise the skills, expertise and dedication of practice nurses and support workers across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Five practice nurses and one assistant practitioner in general practice were nominated by patients, carers and colleagues in the West Yorkshire and Harrogate stage of the awards with three leaving with awards.

Paula won the 'rising star award' given to practice nurses new to the role and who have chosen primary care as their career.

Michelle Turner, director of nursing NHS Bradford District and Craven Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) congratulated all the winners and finalists.

“Practice nurses play an invaluable role in delivering high quality patient care and I’m delighted to see their dedication, skills and compassion for the local communities they serve recognised.

“We are incredibly lucky across our districts to have such talented people working hard for patients and I’d like to thank every member of our practice nursing teams for all they do in caring for the people of Bradford District and Craven.”
