A STEAM engine rescued from a mill near Skipton and restored by volunteers will be running again on Sunday.

The 300 horsepower Smith Bros and Eastwood engine, rescued from a mill at Bradley, is in operation at Bancroft |Mill, Barnoldswick, along with its other restored 650-horsepower Roberts engine. Volunteers have put in thousands of man-hours over 10 years to bring the engines back into full operation.

Organisers say that Bancroft Mill, in Gillians Lane, is suitable for all ages and there is disabled access to the majority of the site.

It will be open from 11am, with the engines running at intervals from 1pm to 3.45pm. Admission is £6 or £5 concessions, with family tickets for £15. Bancroft Mill Engine Trust was set up in 1986 to preserve and demonstrate what is now Lancashire’s largest running steam mill engine.
