AN Oakworth woman who works at Airedale Hospital's Emergency Department has won a prestigious award.
Rachel Barratt was officially recognised in a scheme set up to showcase innovative and effective use of data.
She was announced as the winner of the Wood Award for Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARN) audit co-ordinator of the year.
TARN is a national organisation that collects and processes data on moderately and severely injured patients in England and Wales.
This allows major trauma centres, trauma units, ambulance services and individual clinicians to measure their trauma service against other providers across the country.
A spokesman for Airedale NHS Foundation Trust said: "The judges felt the improvements seen once Rachel had joined the team at Airedale, along with her innovative techniques, showed she had gone above and beyond in her role, and was therefore an excellent choice for the award."
Dr Alexandra Danecki, consultant in emergency medicine at Airedale, said: “This award is very well deserved.
"Rachel has worked well beyond our expectations in setting up systems to facilitate her role, as well as conducting a significant amount of liaison with other clinical professionals to ensure the standard of data is as good as it can be.
"She has also provided fantastic administrative and moral support and has gained an amazing amount of knowledge about trauma care.”
