Lancaster-based author Jenn Ashworth will visit Ingleton Community Library this month to talk about her novel, Fell, where past and present mingle in a dark, compelling tale set amid the mudflats of Morecambe Bay.

Jenn is a former librarian – she once ran a prison library – and now lectures in creative writing at the University of Lancaster. In 2011, she was chosen by BBC’s The Culture Show as one of the 12 best new British novelists.

She will talk about her fourth novel at the library as part of Read Regional, an annual celebration of new books from the North of England that connects authors with readers in libraries. Founded by New Writing North in 2008, the campaign is funded by Arts Council England and is now produced in partnership with North Yorkshire and 22 other library authorities.

There are 12 titles on this year’s campaign, including poetry, children’s books, nature writing and fiction. All 12 books are available to borrow from Ingleton Community Library, including multiple copies of Fell that readers can borrow up to the event and after. Reading guides to each book can be downloaded from www.readregional.com.

The event takes place on Monday, 21 May, at Ingleton Community Library at 6pm. Tickets cost £1. Email ingletonlibrary@gmail.com or call 01524 241701 or 01609 534504 for more information.
