A CARE home near Grassington took part in international Nurses Day.

Threshfield Court, in Threshfield, took part in the celebrations on May 12 held to recognise the work of nurses and care staff.

It is staged across the world to recognise and reward the important work and dedication of nurses everywhere - many of who go above and beyond the call of duty.

Joanne Lucas, a nurse at the home, said: “I became a nurse almost 30 years ago, it was all I wanted to do from being a young girl. I wanted to make a difference to other people lives.

“I love coming to work each day and ensuring that the people I care for get the best possible experience and enjoy their life journey as much as possible”.

And, she urged young people to join the profession.

“If young people want to make a difference and have a rewarding career then nursing is that career choice, I have loved every minute," she said.

Stacey Nicholson, general manager at the home, said: “At Threshfield court our nurses are hard-working, dedicated and passionate about caring for older people. We are also committed to helping develop newly qualified nurses with their leadership and clinical skills, which can often be invaluable in a career with increasing responsibilities and workload.”
