IT WAS apparently a very hot day when Skipton Gala was held in 1982, which must have made it particularly onerous to be inside a pantomime cow!

So it's perhaps not surprising that young Victoria Ingham at the back of the bovine beauty is taking the opportunity for a bit of a breather - and the chance to see daylight after more than an hour in the procession.

Our thanks again go to Skipton's 'Mr Sport' Roger Ingham, left on the photograph, who supplied the picture. Roger, of course, is a long-time gala stalwart, and in 1982 was 'compere' on the day, as well as taking on the role of 'Farmer Giles.'

He acknowledges he had an easier job than his daughter Victoria - and his brother David, unseen at the front end!
