UNDER 25s will be able to enjoy half price travel to Grassington Festival thanks to a project aimed at encouraging younger people to the area.

For five days of the two week event, which kicks off this weekend, they will be able to travel half price on the festival bus, from Skipton to Grassington.

The half price offer, which will run on June 16, 17, 23. 24 and 30, is part of Great Place:Lakes and Dales (GPLD) in conjunction with festival organisers.

Representatives of The Great Place project will be at the festival with an array of cultural activities and events, including 'how great is this place?', free immersive arts and music in the festival square on Saturday, June 23.

Programme manager Lindsey Hebden said: “We will also be looking for GPLD ‘faces’ in our ‘Poster Poser’ activity. If you live or work in the Yorkshire dales and are up for helping us shout about how awesome our great place is, come and meet us in the Festival Square on Saturday June 23.”

Throughout the festival, GPLD is supporting musicians Hope and Social with their ‘This Must Be The Place’ project linking locations with people’s memories and ‘sense of belonging’, which is the theme of this year’s festival. The group has also joined forces with singers at Linton Falls and Linton Church to create its own pieces of location specific music.

Buses run throughout the festival on the usual number 72 and Witchway services and in the evening depart Skipton at 6.50pm with a return service at 11pm. All tickets must be booked in advance via the Vamooz app, with details on the festival website: grassington-festival.org.uk/travel-in-style-with-vamooz-festival-bus/ or by ringing the box office on 01756 752691 and quoting ‘Great Place Offer’.
