CRICKET’S Yorkshire Diamonds squad will be bowling into Skipton on Tuesday with a roadshow aimed at inspiring the game’s next generation.
The Yorkshire women’s T20 team was formed in 2016, and this season features a host of England international and academy and development players, plus two overseas players, including Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atapattu.
They will be at Skipton Cricket Club, Carleton New Road, from 6pm to 7.30pm and meeting children aged between five and 16 to pass on playing tips and answer questions. The event is free.
Skipton was selected as the venue for the first of several roadshows across Yorkshire as it has one of the biggest and most successful junior sections in the county. The evening is rounded off with a match, questions sessions, and autographs and photographs with the players. Mick Hardwick, chairman of Skipton CC, said: “It feels like a real pat on back for all the great work our junior coaches have done over the years, and will certainly provide a big boost for junior cricket in and around the town.”
