CURRY fans flocked to Cross Hills to join in birthday celebrations for the village’s Zolsha Restaurant on Friday.

Around 80 people enjoyed glorious sunshine at a barbecue buffet of Bangladeshi dishes and curries, as well as traditional party food like hot dogs. And the party went with a swing thanks to a group of traditional musicians and dancers from India.

Zolsha manager Adnan Ahmed said: “This event was to celebrate our eighth anniversary since we opened in 2010.

“The buffet was full of traditional Bangladeshi dishes as well as some of our customers’ favourite curries. All of the starters were cooked over charcoal barbecues, as well as burgers and hot dogs with an Indian twist for the younger guests. Homemade desserts were also served to the diners along with a fruity cocktail for the adults.

“The main attraction was a traditional Indian music and dance act all the way from Jaipur, who are touring the UK this summer. They performed in traditional attire and with dhool drums. We also had a Bollywood- inspired DJ who played a selection of Bhangra and English music in between the acts. It was great to see customers joining in and getting involved by playing the drums and dancing along with the performers - a fantastic night with a great atmosphere.”
