AN extra 2,000 blue bins will roll into Pendle to meet the high demand for the bin for paper and card recycling.

Pendle Council’s full council voted in favour of ordering 2,000 more blue bins as supplies began to run low.

Council leader, Councillor Paul White, said: “We’ve supplied over 24,000 blue bins across Pendle but demand for the optional bins has been higher than anticipated.

“We know some people still don’t have the blue bin they ordered and we’re sorry for the wait. We’ve agreed to get more bins manufactured so that no one misses out.”

David Walker, Pendle Council’s environmental services manager, said: “It takes a few weeks to get the bins as they are manufactured specially for us.

“But we should get the final 2,000 bins at the end of August and will start delivering them from the first week of September.

“Don’t forget, paper and card can still be put out in green boxes, cardboard boxes and carrier bags. Not everyone has the space for a blue bin and they’ve been completely optional.”
