NOT everyone will be so lucky as photographer Dave Dimmock, who was sat at the top of the Malham Cove when this 10-week-old peregrine landed right next to him.
Yet for another 8 days people will be able to see a pair of peregrines – and their two young – up close, by visiting a free public viewpoint at the base of the Cove.
The viewpoint is open from 10:30 to 16:30 from Thursday to Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday) until 30 July.
RSPB and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority staff or volunteers will be on hand to show people the birds through telescopes.
Anthony Hills, RSPB Area Manager, said: “This year’s chicks are still mastering their hunting skills, with their parents teaching them what to do, so there is plenty of action to see.
"These famously fast birds have been delighting visitors with their impressive aerial antics.
"We hope lots more people will visit Malham Cove to see these popular birds in action before the end of July when the viewpoint closes for another season.”
The viewpoint is part of the Malham Peregrine Project, a partnership between the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and the RSPB now in its 16th year.
