FOUR men from Long Preston are all set to drive an old banger into the heart of Europe - to raise cash for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Kevin North, Barclay Bower, Paul Redford and Nigel Wildman are taking part in the Crumball Rally Mission Impossible between Reims in France and the Czech capital Prague, which starts on Friday.

The group, who have named themselves 'The Yorkshire Puds', will be travelling in a car which cost them less than £200 - as the rules of the rally dictate.

On Friday they will meet up with the 45 other competing road crews before setting off for Chur in Switzerland - having already driven from Long Preston the previous day.

They will then go from Chur through the world-famous Stelvio pass into Austria and on to Fussen in Germany before arriving in Prague on Sunday.

They will then drive home after the rally - making a total of around 3,000 miles on the road.

Kevin said: "We really wanted to do the the event, though we know it's likely to be a real test, and there has already been a lot of blood, sweat and beers! But it is also a great opportunity to raise money for the Air Ambulance, a great charity."
