FEATURED this week is another picture sent to us by Rosamund Mitchell, of Oakworth, which is of Carleton’s village pantomime in 1935 or 1936.

We printed two of Mrs Mitchell’s photographs earlier this year, of Grange Farm in Oakworth in the 1920s and of another Carleton panto in the 30s.

Mrs Mitchell writes that both pantos were: “written by my mother, Marjorie Taylor.

“I don’t know who any of the people on it are, but when you printed the last one two people wrote to me saying a relative was on it, so I thought this may jog another memory. This panto was ‘Sleeping Beauty.’”

Mrs Mitchell adds that her mother’s panto scripts were occasionally updated and looked at by other groups, sometimes decades after they were originally produced, and were complimented for their witty writing.
