MYSTERY surrounds this weeks’s intriguing picture, which was submitted by Jeanette Pepper, of Shortbank Road, Skipton. The original framed drawing is of Skipton Auction Mart, and apparently created in 1967 - those numbers are on the back - by William Geldart.

Jeanette writes: “This is a photo of an actual framed picture owned by my cousin, a Suffolk farmer. He was given it many years ago by a lady he had done some work for.

“He has always lived and farmed in Suffolk. Can anyone shed any light on the picture - or who William Geldart was or is?”

Does anyone know anything further about the drawing? Presumably the artist has taken it from life, in which case does anyone recognise any of the people on it? Or was the drawing done entirely from the artist’s imagination? All thought and opinions gratefully received!
