DOROTHY Bearpark and Margaret Roberts organised a very successful coffee morning and table top sale to further the work of ‘Pioneer Projects’, a local charity which supports people living with dementia and their carers.

Jack Parkinson, of Pioneer Projects, came along to receive a cheque for the magnificent total of £519 from Dorothy and the team at Settle Parish Church.

Thanks were expressed to everyone who worked so hard to make this event such a success and all who came along on the day, had coffee, ate cake or spotted a bargain amongst the ‘Table Top’ items, and to the Pioneer Projects staff and volunteers who provide such a valuable service for families in the North Craven area.

Pioneer Projects is an Arts and Health charity based in Bentham that runs groups for people living with a dementia throughout the region.

Pioneer Projects delivers two regular weekly Creative Sessions in Settle. The sessions are enormously popular, well attended and positive environments for everyone involved. The artist-led sessions are supported by trained volunteers.

Many participants attend the sessions for years and build friendships and look forward to going each week. Pioneer Projects ensures that there are regular exhibitions that showcase the creative work and celebrate the achievements of the groups.

The groups afford time for carers to have a break in the knowledge that the person they care for is in a safe environment and enjoying themselves.
