SIR - Further to Trudy Wilson's letter (Support the work of our great volunteers, Craven Herald, September 13), we too would like to express our own thanks to the volunteers who give freely of their time in doing such a sterling job in maintaining Settle Churchyard and now because of inadequate funding to keep machinery up to date, etc, they feel they can no longer carry on this important work. Settle Churchyard is a very large area catering for burials and cremations from other churches in the area and as such it is a huge task for volunteers to undertake. We know Geoff and Andy did not wish for any publicity nor for their names to be mentioned, but a huge thank-you to them and also to the many past volunteers. Please, please keep up the good work.
