GIRL GUIDING North Yorkshire West volunteers have been recognised for their dedication to the organisation at the annual ‘thanks and recognition’ ceremony held at Skipton Girls High School.

Every year, the event aims to thank and to recognise the work of the 650 volunteers who touch the lives of thousands of girls in the guide county every day.

“Our volunteers are so committed to encouraging, inspiring and building confidence in our members, right through the girlguiding sections, from Rainbows at five year old up to our teenage Rangers, while having fun at the same time,” said County Commissioner Jean Tennant. “Their continued dedication to guiding for all of our members is something we’re very proud of.”

In addition to the volunteers recognition, three guides also celebrated and received their Guide Camp Permits from the Regional Commissioner, Allison Gordon.

The ‘guide county’ includes Skipton and Settle, as well a Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon. Its aim is to give girls and young women a space where they can be themselves, build friendships, gain valuable life skills and make a positive difference to their lives and their communities, and most importantly a space to have fun.
