IT'S a fantasy for millions of men but a dream no longer for 14-year-old Luke Bayer.

The Cononley schoolboy is just back from spending a few days in the sun with X-Factor judge Dannii Minogue at her Ibiza hideaway.

Luke took the trip after beating hundreds of thousands of contestants to reach the final six in his age group on the ITV show.

He's the youngest ever hopeful to get so far on the programme, but only after a shaky start.

"I had to audition twice at first," he said. "Simon Cowell asked me to come back and sing a different song, more suited to my voice."

After singing Rod Stewart's Maggie May on the first audition, Luke returned the next day with You Raise Me Up.

Luke said: "I never really thought I would get this far. I'm really excited."

Viewers of the show will have seen Luke at the boot camp stage last week.

In the first boot camp audition, contestants had to sing a song they thought could be a number one for them.

Luke sang former Pop Idol winner Will Young's Leave Right Now.

The second round saw the 48 remaining contestants sing on the West End Stage at London's Apollo.

At the end of this show the contestants were whittled down once more to six in each category.

"I cannot believe I got through," said Luke.

On the show tomorrow (Saturday), millions of viewers will see Luke staying at Dannii Minogue's holiday island home.

"A year ago I never would have thought I'd be staying at Dannii Minogue's house," said Luke.

While in Ibiza, the six boys were whittled down to the last three, who will perform in the live shows and face the weekly viewers' vote. They will also go on an arena tour next year.

Luke is not letting on whether he was one of the successful trio but he said: "It would be brilliant to go on tour."

Luke, a pupil at South Craven School, Cross Hills, would have to move down to London for the live shows.

"My friends have just gone crazy," he said. "It's scary - all the girls in Year 7 keep running up to me because I'm on X-Factor."

* The X-Factor is on ITV1, at 5.15pm tomorrow (Saturday).
