A talented young stock car racer from Skipton is hoping to notch up his 103rd trophy tomorrow.

And, for 15-year-old Jake Hall, a win at the Brisca Ministox championships, at Barnard Castle in County Durham, would make him world Number One.

Jake, who goes to Aireville School, has been racing for just three years after picking up the bug from his dad, Peter Hall.

“He won his 102nd trophy last Sunday at Skegness. He’s in with a good chance, I would like his 103rd trophy to be the world cup,” said Mr Hall.

Despite not being old enough to drive on the roads, Jake races a 1,000cc Mini with an average lap speed of 45mph.

He spends two nights every week working on his car with his dad and is joined by a bunch of friends at race meetings all over the country.

He has also won the support of sponsors Skipton Truck Centre, Skipton Vehicle Services and Mercedes Specialists, Skipton.

“I’m very hopeful that he will win on Sunday and if he does, he will win a gold roof to put on his car,” said Mr Hall.

Also racing at Sunday’s event will be 15-year-old Carleton teenager Andrew-John Thompson.
