A bored 18-year-old scratched his name onto a diesel pump at Skipton Ambulance station.
Samuel Floyd was with friends at the Broughton Road station when he was spotted by an ambulance worker vandalising the pump, Skipton magistrates heard today.
Floyd, who admitted damaging the pump, had scrawled the letters "SAM F".
He later told police that he had defaced the pump because he was bored, the court heard.
Floyd, of Roman Court, Skipton, was given a 12-month conditional discharge. He was ordered to pay £50 compensation for the damage and £45 costs.
