Local people carrying candles are due to gather together outside Skipton Town Hall on Thursday at 7pm for a silent vigil in support of peace in Palestine and Israel.
Organiser Jette Howard said: “We will come together on the principle that it is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness. We want to show support for all those who have suffered loss as a result of the conflict and to urge those with influence to work towards a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.”
The organisers were also asking people to support the peace process by signing a petition on www.avaaz.org or writing to their MP.
