Katie hopes to be a Teen Queen

A schoolgirl has set her sights on becoming a top flight model.

Katie Elliott has entered an American-style beauty pageant called Teen UK and is urging locals to vote for her by telephone and text.

The 17-year-old, who is studying for her A-levels at Skipton Girls’ High School, is among 28 whose pictures have been posted on website teenqueenuk.com.

Katie, from Grassington, is currently in fourth place with almost 400 votes, but is hoping for more support as only the top three girls will go through to the next stage.

“I saw the competition on the internet and after I filled out the application form I was invited to London for a two-hour photo shoot,” said Katie, whose parents run Elliott’s Café in Grassington.

“It was so exciting. There were signed photos of Katie Price and other famous people dotted around on the photo studio walls. I want to go into fashion journalism as a career so I hope the competition will help me.”

Katie’s parents, Jane and Richard, are fully behind her modelling ambitions and have put up posters around the village advertising the competition, which will be screened on GMTV and Channel 5.

The winners will be announced on-line on February 1. To vote for Katie, text Katie Elliott to 84205 or ring 09016 561515 and add 19 when requested.

Miss Teen Queen 2009 will go on to represent Britain in Miss Teen World 2009 in the US.
