A pie and curry show in Skipton will celebrate the life of the Yorkshire-born father of Rudyard Kipling.
For the last few days, poet and showman Glyn Watkins, left, has been walking around the town carrying a giant pie to promote the show.
And on Monday he will be performing at The Cross Keys pub, on Otley Road.
“I do shows with a curry that celebrate Rudyard Kipling and the land of his birth,” he said.
Although the writer was born in India, his family came from Yorkshire and his grandparents, Joseph and Hannah, retired to Skipton.
“I wanted to do a show about Rudyard Kipling’s remarkable father, John Lockwood, on his birthday and discovered the Skipton link,” said Glyn.
Kipling Senior illustrated his son’s books and was an accomplished artist in his own right.
He was also one of the first people to teach modern design techniques in India.
The Curry, Kipling and Yorkshire Show starts at 7.30pm and tickets, costing £10 – which includes a curry – are available from the Cross Keys or at £11 from the website bradwan.co.uk
