Cyclists planning trips to the Yorkshire Dales now have some extra help from the national park.
Two websites managed by the authority have been revamped and are up and running again.
Mark Allum, park access projects officer, said: “Cycling and mountain biking are great ways of getting around the Yorkshire Dales and these two websites aim to give you the information to do this.
“Whether you are a beginner needing to hire a bike and have some instruction, or an experienced mountain biker who just needs to have a suitable route, you should find all you need.
“A number of new features have been built into the new sites, the most important of which is that the route information is now available as free downloads.
“Not only are cycling and mountain biking great fun and good exercise, but they also allow you to get around the area whilst helping to protect it by minimising your impact.”
The cyclethedales.org.uk site is for road cycling and touring and includes information on opportunities for families as well as more experienced riders. It also includes information about the Yorkshire Dales Cycleway, which is a long-distance touring route around the area.
The mtbthedales.org.uk website is aimed at those wanting to mountain bike in the area, whether they are first-time visitors or those who have been many times before.
The route downloads are available either as a PDF with OS mapping and a route description, or in other formats for GPS and users of digital mapping.
