A 29-year-old motorcyclist has died in an accident on the B6479 road at Selside.

Stuart David McCarthy, of Westhoughton, Bolton, was riding with a group of five bikers when the crash occurred at 9.05pm last Thursday.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by an ambulance crew.

Police say the group had been heading towards Ribblehead and had entered the county via the A682 and A65 roads.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the group beforehand.

An inquest into Mr McCarthy’s death was opened and adjourned by North Yorkshire coroner Geoff Fell at Harrogate today.
