A Victorian-style range, made in the heart of the Dales, will have a starring role in a Broadway show.

The Yorkshire Range Company, based at Halton East, has provided a £1,000 range, along with pots and pans, for the US premiere of After Miss Julie.

And, hopefully watching its stage debut at the American Airlines Theatre in New York will be the firm’s owner Gordon Pickles and his wife, Jeanette. Mr Pickles was approached by the show’s producers, who had been scouring the globe for a range of a particular size.

“They contacted us by e-mail,” said Mr Pickles. “We have lots of inquiries from America, but this is the first range that we have actually sent there.”

Making their Broadway debut alongside the range will be British actors Sienna Miller and Jonny Lee Miller.

The show is set in an English country house in 1945 where the owner’s granddaughter, Miss Julie, engages in a dangerous liaison with a servant.

It will be previewed on Friday September 18 and will open to the public on Thursday October 22.

This is not the Yorkshire Range Company’s first flirtation with showbusiness – it has previously provided a range for a stage show at the Old Vic in London.
