Skipton hoteliers buy out partner

Husband and wife team Malcolm and Karen Weaving are the new exclusive owners of Skipton’s Rendezvous Hotel.

Mr and Mrs Weaving, who came out of retirement in 2004 to buy into the Keighley Road hotel, have bought out their partner to gain full control of the business.

“We have loved running the Rendezvous Hotel over the last five years. It’s always felt like a family business and it’s great to finally make that a reality,” said Mr Weaving.

In addition to the 80-room hotel, the couple also lease the Snaygill Arms pub next door.

The Weavings bought out their former partner with a multi-million package from the Co-operative Bank.

John Franklin, senior corporate manager at the Co-operative’s South Yorkshire Banking Centre, said the bank had gained considerable experience in the hotel and leisure sector in recent years.

“Although it can seem tough to access capital at the moment, we hope that Rendezvous shows that if the project is right then funding is still available.

“It was a pleasure to work on the project and we are sure it will continue to flourish.”
