HUNDREDS of runners aged from three to 83 have signed up to take part in the first ever Lancaster Fun Run this Sunday.
Three charity fun runs at Lancaster University are part of a huge community event which aims to entertain the whole family while raising thousands of pounds for local charities.
There will be something for everyone, from face painting and hook-a-duck to live sports and a real ale festival, says the Lancaster University Volunteering Unit (LUVU), which is behind the day.
Other attractions include falconry displays, demonstrations by the RNLI, a live radio broadcast by Bailrigg FM, a penalty competition with Lancaster City FC and a climbing wall.
And, for people who prefer just to watch, there will be sport throughout the day as part of the University's Roses Weekend an annual sports tournament between the universities of Lancaster and York.
To take part in one of the fun runs, application forms and more details can be found online at www.luvu.org.uk/funrun.
So go along to the Lancaster Fun Day, help raise cash for local charities and keep the whole family entertained this May Bank Holiday Sunday.
THERE'S still time for local people to sign up and leg it for the lifeboat' at the charity fun run on Sunday.
Lifeboat chiefs say they need more people, fami-lies and corporate teams to get on board' the RNLI running team to help raise cash for Morecambe lifeboat station.
Funds are needed for things like volunteer lifeboat crew training and new crew kit, says RNLI events organiser Lisa Cowen.
All RNLI runners will be presented with a souvenir certificate, a free RNLI running t-shirt and water bottle. To sign up, call Lisa on 0161-787-8779.
