Who's being Ratty?

THINGS are beginning to stir in Lancaster's Ryelands Park this spring and local people are needed to help turn the breeze into a whirlwind.

They are wanted for a planned new update of Toad of Toad Hole' to be performed in the park during the summer.

A cast of four professional actors are to take the lead roles in the drama and are looking for people to fill out the cast.

The Whirlwind Theatre Productions version of the A A Milne classic will be complete with break-dancing ferrets and rapping weasels and stoats, if all goes according to plan.

Anyone interested in being involved is being invited to a community meeting on May 15 at 7.30pm, at The King's House, Phoenix Street, Lancaster, where all will be explained.

And workshop auditions will be held also at The King's House on Saturday, June 19 and 26, from 2pm onwards.

Whirlwind Theatre decribes its work as innovative, inspiring and providing quality enter-tainment for all ages'.

The company, formed four years ago, is a collaboration between Myette Godwyn, a professional actress for 15 years, and Mike Whalley, a production manager, sound and lighting designer.

This is the first production of its kind in Ryelands Park and the pair say they want it to be the benchmark for future projects.

Whirlwind is also launching a Saturday morning drama club this weekend at King's House for seven to 11-year-olds from 10am 12.30pm. For more details, call the office on 01524-812851.
