Jordan kicks off football career

A 15-year-old has realised almost every young lad’s dream by being offered the chance of a professional football career.

Jordan Armstrong, from Millholme Drive, Bentham, and a year 11 student at Settle College, has just signed a two-year contract with League Two club Shrewsbury Town.

The signing follows intensive trials after being released by Preston North End, where he had been for four-and-a-half years.

“I’ll be going to Shrewsbury on June 30 to join their centre of excellence after I’ve finished my GCSEs,” said Jordan, pictured right.

“I’ll then start on a two-year scholarship which offers further education through a one-day college course. I will be studying sports sciences.”

Jordan, a Newcastle United supporter, is looking forward to the challenges of the professional game and can’t wait to get started at Shrewsbury.
