More parents have secured their first choice of secondary school for their children this year, says North Yorkshire County Council.
Parents were notified of school places last week, with more than nine out of 10 given their first preference.
Coun Jim Clark, the county council’s executive member for schools, said: “We are delighted that so many of our families have been able to gain their first preference from their choice of schools.
"As a local authority, we work with schools across the country to make sure all of them deliver the highest standards of education so that families who are not given first preferences will nevertheless be able to send their children to good schools.”
