The 2010 Skipton Music Festival starts on Monday – and entries are so high that another evening session has been added.
The festival, first held in 1922, provides a platform for performers in various speech and music classes.
“Entries are very healthy, so much so that we have added an extra evening session,” said festival secretary Ann Ware.
“Piano, recorder, woodwind and guitar entries are particularly good, but we would like to encourage more primary schools to take part in the singing and speech classes.”
All the classes are held in Skipton Town Hall and the public can attend any session.
“We run from 9am to 9pm. It is a most enjoyable occasion and I’m sure the audience will appreciate that fact if they come along,” said Mrs Ware.
The festival will culminate with a concert featuring some of the winners next Saturday, March 20.
