A Skipton super slimmer is half the size after shedding five stones – and beating her depression into the bargain.
Stay-at-home mum Suzannah Mody, of Romille Street, is now a size 10, dropping from a size 20-to-22 in less than a year.
Suzannah, 36, puts her success down to WeightWatchers, but it was worries over her health which helped get her started.
“Depression ruled my life for a decade,” said Suzannah, whose teacher husband Roger is head of the languages faculty at Keighley’s Oakbank School.
“By the time we had our beautiful daughter Charlotte in 2006, my weight had crept up to 15-and-a-half stone. I was a size 20-22 with the odd 24. I was not comfortable with myself and knew I had to change things.
“The aches and pains didn’t help. I began to suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, waking up with severe pins and needles in my hands and, despite my doctor linking it to my weight, I constantly looked for other explanations and only half-heartedly tried to control my diet.”
The turning point came when a nurse gave her a blunt warning about her size and offered to refer her to WeightWatchers for free.
“By the summer holidays I’d lost three stone and I felt fantastic,” she said. “Now, less than a year after the first meeting, I’m an unbelievable five stones lighter. There is no sign of depression, my three-year-old daughter is thriving and my husband Roger is still the love of my life.
“For the first time since a teenager I’m a size 10. ”
WeightWatchers leader Sue Willis, who runs classes in Skipton, Gargrave and Settle, said Suzannah’s story was inspirational.
Sue, a former Skipton Girls’ High School pupil, knows how difficult it can be to lose weight. She became a leader last September after losing 36lbs in six months.
