A bench and plaque will be installed at Crina Bottom, Ingleton, in memory of murdered nurse Tracy Dryden.

At least 150 friends and family took part in an 18.5-mile sponsored walk last year and raised £3,100 to buy the memorial bench.

Participants started from Ingleton and followed a route past the waterfalls, over Whernside to Ribblehead.

A number of people left the group and more joined before the walkers carried on to the summit of Ingleborough and down to Crina Bottom, where Ingleton residents joined the walkers for a tribute to Tracy, who was a fitness enthusiast.

Sally Horn, who was Tracy’s friend and running partner, said: “Tracy is still very sadly missed. I thought it said a lot that 150 people took part in the walk. It was a touching day.

“I chose Crina Bottom for the bench because Tracy lived at the base of Ingleborough and one of the main places she went running was up Ingleborough.

“It is on a main walking route and it is one of the places she liked so it just seemed the right location. It is not too far from Ingleton so people can go sit there and have a moment if they want to.”

Any funds left over will be split between Ingleton Swimming Pool and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Tracy, 37, of Thacking Lane, Ingleton, died in March last year and her estranged husband, John, was later convicted of her murder and sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in jail.
