Bradford Council approves scheme for football pavilion

The extension and refurbishment of a football pavilion to provide a new home for Addingham Scouts has been approved by Bradford Council.

Planning officers acting under delegated powers have given the go-ahead to Addingham Parish Council’s plans for the football pavilion off Stockinger Lane.

The parish council owns the land and the building.

It also owned the site of the previous Scout hut, close to Main Street, but sold this to make way for the new Addingham Medical Centre.

At the time, the council promised to find a new home for the village Scout groups.

Since the Scout hut was demolished, Scouts have been based at alternative venues around the village.

Several options, including building a more ambitious Addingham Recreation Centre, were debated before the council, Scouts and football club settled on the refurbishment and extension of the football pavilion.

The council is expected to debate detailed funding options for the plan shortly.
