A Skipton mortgage underwriter is set to become the unlikely star of a Saturday night talent contest - wearing a saucepan on his head.

Martyn Crofts, who honed his act in local pubs, is due to appear on Saturday’s edition of hit show Britain’s Got Talent.

In front of a panel of judges including Simon Cowell and David Walliams he will be seen imitating a Dalek while dressed in a smart suit topped off with the unusual kitchen-based headgear.

Martyn, who works for Skipton Building Society at its head office in the town, briefly appeared in a trailer at the end of last weekend’s show, but the Herald has been asked to keep precise details of his unusual act a secret until his full performance has been screened.

The comedy turn is tipped to be a big hit on You Tube but it is not yet known whether Martyn has made it through to the semi-finals of the competition.

He is also due to appear on spin-off show Britain’s Got More Talent, on ITV2, when presenter Stephen Mulhern will take a turn under the saucepan.

Martyn, who is married to New Zealander Deborah, is not permitted to talk publicly about his appearance until after the weekend.
