Carl Lis re-elected chairman of Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority

Carl Lis has been re-elected chairman of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) for the fourth year running.

The Craven District Councillor for the Ingleborough Ward was originally appointed to the authority in 1996 and has already served one, four-year term as its chairman.

Coun Lis is chairman of Ingleborough Community Centre Management Committee, Ingleton Rural Community Association, Ingleton Scout Executive and Ingleton Football Club, and is also chairman of the Ingleton Primary School’s board of governors.

He was awarded an OBE in the 2009 New Years Honours for his services to the communities of North Yorkshire.

The park’s new deputy chairman is Peter Charlesworth, who replaces Harold Brown, who has held the post for four years.

Coun Lis said: “I would like to thank Harold for all he has done as deputy chairman and for all the support he has given me in my role as chairman. At the same time I would like to congratulate Peter Charlesworth and I look forward to working with him.”

Mr Charlesworth, who was reappointed to the authority in May for a second, four-year term, is a former judge who lives in Ilkley. He became a trustee and chairman of the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust and is a member of the Council of Management of the Yorkshire Dales Society.
