Bentham bonfire to return
9:00am Monday 30th July 2012 in News
Bentham ’s community bonfire is set to rise from the ashes.
The annual lantern procession and bonfire has had to be called off this year because of a lack of funding, but is set to return in 2013, bigger and better than ever.
Committee member Anna Miller said: “We are planning a fantastic event for 2013. The new committee will be spending this year taking steps to ensure that we have more sustainable funding in place.
“Later in the year we will launch our own website where people will be able to donate via PayPal and we also will be holding local fundraising events.
“We also have exciting plans for creating a really spectacular evening’s entertainment, building on all the good work that has gone before us.
“There are fun and affordable ways you can get involved such as taking part in the family lantern making workshops which Pioneer Projects are keen to continue subject to funding.
“The committee works hard every year to ensure it is a success and it is a superb community event which we want to enjoy for years to come.”
Anna added the cancellation of this year’s event was disappointing “but we simply do not have the funds”.
